Maine Open Farm Day
July 22 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pmFree
Open Farm Day is an annual family adventure in which farms throughout all 16 counties open their gates to offer the public an opportunity to learn about the business of agriculture. Open Farm Day gives families the chance to visit local farms throughout the state.
Farms around the state participate to commit to ensuring the sustainability of agriculture. Maine’s farming industry has given back to their communities by providing a forum for education and learning in a fun atmosphere.
At East Forty Farm in Waldoboro and take a peek in Lakin’s Gorges Creamery, where all the cheese is made. Also, tour the farm and see the pigs, Tony the draft horse, and the ducks, chickens and turkeys.
Take a walk down to the Medomak River, through the woods, and see one of the most popular clam flats in Waldoboro.
Visit the Farm Store and buy Lakin’s Gorges Cheese and meat raised here at the farm. You are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch and enjoy spending time sitting under the grape arbor.
